PET CITY GROUP (IT)

In 2024 Pet City Group made the strategic decision to move to new modern and larger offices. For this project, INGENIO was commissioned to relocate the IT infrastructure. The project involved the coordination of all involved parties, the implementation of all required preparations in the new offices, the safe transportation of critical systems and network equipment. At the same time, it provided the opportunity to implement system upgrades and streamlining.

Implementation

INGENIO’s team undertook a comprehensive range of procedures for the execution of the project, including:

• Telecommunication needs management: Communication and coordination with the telecom provider for the timely transfer of internet, mpls and telephone lines to the new site.
• Coordination with third party suppliers: Communication and coordination with the companies responsible for all peripheral systems (security, telephony, etc.) to make sure all necessary preparations and adjustments were in place. Securing deadlines and quality control of proper functioning of the peripheral systems in the new premises.
• Network redesign and homogenization: Moving to the new offices served as an opportunity to homogenize the network. The decision was made to install Fortinet network equipment (Firewall, Switches, Access Points), redesign the network and decommission old equipment.
• Transfer and installation of IT infrastructure: We organized the secure disconnection, transportation and installation of all infrastructure (Servers, NAS, UPS, workstations, etc.). Each stage was planned with absolute care, ensuring that the agreed schedule was met, while any unexpected challenges that arose were successfully resolved in a timely manner.

Timeline

A major challenge was to minimize the downtime of the systems. In collaboration with Pet City management, it was decided that systems and equipment would be moved over a three-day period (Friday – Saturday – Sunday), with users teleworking only one day. The plan called for the work to be completed within two days so that the 3rd day (Sunday) would be dedicated to testing and finalizing the work. The coordinated execution of INGENIO’s engineers ensured that the deadline was met. On Monday all Pet City staff found the work site ready (Monitor, phone, other peripherals) and worked from the new offices without any setbacks.

Project outcomes

Comprehensive planning and careful project management allowed Pet City Group to move into its new offices fully operational from the first hour. The expertise and experience of INGENIO’s engineers were instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition and adapting the IT infrastructure to the client’s new needs.
