KnK Accounting has made the strategic decision to migrate its on – premise applications to the Microsoft cloud (Azure). This case study explores the benefits and outcomes of this migration initiative.
Prior to moving to the cloud, KnK Accounting faced several challenges such as limited scalability in server resources, need to upgrade software due to unsupported operating system, high maintenance costs and finally constant interruptions due to connectivity issues.
KnK Accounting decided to finally migrate from the on – premise infrastructure to the cloud and entrusted INGENIO with the implementation. We prepared a study to investigate all parameters and activated a Microsoft Azure virtual machine specifically designed for KnK Accounting’s current needs. The migration process included:
When the process was completed the old on – premise infrastructure was decommissioned.
Cost savings:
By migrating to the cloud, no investment in procuring new equipment is required. In addition, usage can be configured to occur at specific times of the day so that the charge is limited to usage hours only.
Scalability:
The elasticity of the cloud allows scaling up or down in resources based on demand, ensuring optimal performance and user experience. This means they can handle sudden increases in workload without investing in additional hardware.
Safety:
Cloud providers invest heavily in security measures, including physical security, network security and data encryption. By leveraging the security features and expertise of cloud providers, companies can often improve their overall security compared to managing security internally.
Disaster recovery:
Cloud services provide features to enable backup services and disaster recovery capabilities, such as automatic data replication and redirection capabilities. This helps companies ensure the resilience of their data in the event of a disaster or outage.
Reduced maintenance costs:
With cloud services, companies can offload much of the maintenance and management burden to the cloud administrator, including software updates and infrastructure maintenance. This allows companies to focus on more strategic initiatives rather than routine maintenance tasks.
Moving applications to the cloud has significantly benefited KnK Accounting by providing cost savings, scalability of resources and a high level of security. At the same time, users enjoy an excellent system user experience as they can securely connect to the Azure Server from anywhere easily and quickly.
This successful initiative has positioned the company for continued growth and success.
